Ace Journalist and Host of the Daily Report on Radio, Ms. Ify Onyegbule has launched a book for Radio Presenters on how to get better at their jobs.
The online Presentation of the book on her Facebook platform, coincided with her birthday on Wednesday May 27, 2020.
Onyegbule, a professional in the Broadcast Journalism industry made remarks about the book with a post on her timeline.
The post reads…
For the records, it is my 20th year in Journalism and I must say I have had a jolly ride with all of the ups and downs associated with working in different capacities as Reporter, Producer, News reader, Editor and Presenter in 12 different Radio and TV stations across Nigeria, managing 2 of these as Station Manager and General manager respectively.
Meeting with different persons opened me to different lessons in the course of the journey and that has inspired this book of nuggets about 25 Mistakes That Radio Presenters Must Avoid.
Everyday we are confronted with various challenges on the job as Duty Continuity Announcers, Presenters or On Air Personalities (as they are called today), sometimes we are confused about what to do in various circumstances and when we take that step or make that move, it may be that something has gone wrong with that 1 move.
Yes, Mistakes are a part of learning but having a fore knowledge about something can help you position yourself for a better outing.
This is for you, if you are a Presenter, On Air Personality, Duty Continuity Announcer or you intend to come into the Broadcast industry in these carious capacities on Freelance or Full time basis, this book, “How Did We Get Here” will help you understand what it is to be Unique, Special and Gifted in the craft of Journalism.
You will understand why “burning out on the Job” exposes you to ridicule and you will be able to tell when the time has come for you to “take a break” or “move on” to other things.
“How Did We Get Here” will also tell you why your close family members, friends and colleagues who become bosses, focus on the job rather than your relationship with them.
Find out what my CEO in one of the Stations where I worked, told me after hearing me “mispronounce” the Title of a Monarch in South-West Nigeria, that slip during the News at Noon years ago, almost cost me my Job and you don’t want to be caught in that web!
Not many persons believe that it is possible for you to be physically present at your duty post in the studio with your mind clearly somewhere else. I found myself in those shoes many years ago, what happened to me after that blunder will amaze you!
Higher Institutions offering Media courses can order copies for students eager to go into Journalism/Presentation after their education.
Media Organisations should also order copies of this book as part of the “Welcome Pack” for Presenters after their recruitment exercise, so that they can understand why what is expected of them on the job.
You can order the book for N4,000 only (delivery inclusive to any part of Nigeria) by making a Transfer to 1002133134 (Zenith Bank) with the name Ify Onyegbule and texting your delivery address to 08026265478.
