A Benue based legal practitioner,Kelvin Iorzenda Esq has petitioned the Benue State commissioner of Police on the abuse of power,and unwholesome activities of CSP Justin Gberindyer ,Commander of Operation Zenda in Benue State Police.
In the petition made available to Fabmimi.com dated 14th July 2020 and signed by Barr Kelvin Iorzenda,he accused CSP Gberindyer of unprofessional activities at Operation Zenda,a quick response of the Nigerian Police Force in Makurdi Benue State set up by the Benue state command to arrest criminals ,hoodlums,armed robbers,and other notorious criminals in the state where he was incharge.
The legal practitioner accused the Police officer of threatening the life of one Mr Godwin Akor Nyinya ,a Deputy Director Taxes with the Benue Inland Revenue Service.
According to Mr Iorzenda , sometime on the 1st of June 2020,Mr Akor accompanied his boss the Chairman of BIRS Mr Andrew Ayabam to the office of CSP Gberindyer in Makurdi to make a handwritten statement in support of a petition over the threat to kidnap Mr Ayabam’s son and to request the officers to lodge full investigation with the aim of bringing the suspects to book.
He said it was at the officer that CSP Gberindyer confronted and unlawfully arrested Mr Akoh ,siezed his official car, 2 phones and alleged that he recruited some person,s gave them fake POS and fake receipts to collect illegal taxes ,they alleged that the persons where giving Mr Akoh N1.2Million weekly from the illegal activities.
He accused the police officer of forcing Mr Akoh to call 6 persons to report to Wishden Hotel Gboko where he instructed some police officers to detain the 6 men in Gboko while Mr Akoh was detained in Makurdi in his base.
The police officer drove to Gboko and ordered officers to torture and manhandle the 6 persons at an illegal detention center named ”Danger Zone ” .
He further stated in his petition to the CP that CSP Gberindye and others have been threatening the life of his client amounting to a breach of his fundamental right to life,right to fair hearing ,freedom of movement ,right to own properties ,he also accused the CSP of inhuman and degrading treatment on Mr Akoh,amongst many other other fundamental rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria 1999(as amended).
Saddened by this reoccurring threats from CSP Gberindyer,Barr Iorzenda urged the CP to ensure that the Police officer is investigated for his arbitrary abuse of power,unprofessional activities which are not worthy of a Police officer,he also called on the CP to sanction and deal with the Police officer in accordance with the law,

The matter is already at the Federal High Court. When the case came up today , the Police was today given a restraining order from arresting Mr Godwin Akoh.
